Item numbers promise quick moolah, and Zarine Khan of ‘Character Dheela’ fame knows this well. So recently when she set out to buy a house and found herself falling short of money, she decided to step into the shoes of an item girl. Zarine sent out feelers to her near and dear ones stating her plight. Responding to her request, Maanyata nudged husband Sanjay Dutt and an item number called ‘Main Chhamiya No. 1’ from Zilla Ghaziabad fell into Zarine’s lap. What’s more, the number would have made Zarine richer by Rs. 30 lakhs! But like a soap bubble, Zarine’s ecstasy was short lived. Reason: the actor was expected to match steps with Vivek Oberoi.Uh-ho! Now, dancing with Vivek meant bidding adieu to Salman’s camp, no? There was no way Zarine could afford to do that. After all, it was Sallu bhai who turned her from a background dancer into a leading lady. So, poor Zarine had no choice but to opt out. Now she can’t help but wait till some other suitable number comes her way and helps her pay for her dream home. While Zarine has made a sacrifice for Salman, we wonder why Sallu bhai isn’t stepping in to help his good friend? After all, Sallu is known to be doston ka dost and dushmano ka dushman, right?
