Adhyayan-Giselle in Shekhar Suman's Heartless

For those who felt that Shekar Suman's son Adhyayan Suman had done the vanishing act, the news is that he is back with a remake of the Hollywood hit medical thriller Awake. To be titled Heartless, the film will mark the directorial debut of Shekhar Suman and will have Giselle Monteiro, who will be playing Jessica's part in the film.

Adhyayan, who is really excited to work with Giselle, is slated to play Hayden Christensen's part in the adaptation. The filmmakers are in touch with the Weinstein Company to buy the rights of the original film to avoid any copyright issues later on. While the famous Page 3 writer Nina Arora has been working on the script and the screenplay, Niranjan Iyengar has written the dialogues. Adhyayan, who has just wrapped up shooting for Milind Ukey's Dehradun Diaries, added that the film supposed to start last year, but got stalled. Now they are waiting for Nina's new draft of the script.

Bollywood News John arrested and later released on bail

On October 14, 2010 the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court at Bandra convicted John Abraham with rash driving in 2006 case in which two people were injured. John was subsequently sentenced to 15 days imprisonment. The case was when the actor's bike skid, injuring two people, whom he even dutifully took to the hospital.

Though in 2010 he was granted bail the same day post filing an appeal in the Sessions Court against the conviction stating that the judge had misconstrued and had, without applying the principles relating to the acts of rashness and criminal negligence, convicted the applicant. Today the Sessions Court upheld the verdict convicting John to a 15-day jail term for rash driving.

Joy Mukherjee passes away

Yesteryears' actor Joy Mukhejee, who was ailing at Mumbai's Lilavati hospital, breathed his last today at 1 pm IST. He was 73 years old and was suffering from respiratory problems.

Joy Mukherjee made his acting debut in 1960 with Love In Simla. Post that he became popular with films like Shagird, Love In Tokyo, Bahu Beti, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Ek Musafir Ek Hasina, Puraskar, and Hum Hindustani.

Sanjay Gupta gets bail on controversial invite case

Director Sanjay Gupta, the maker of films like Kaante etc, ironically (almost) got himself pricked by the thorns of the law and order, due to the (in)famous media invite of his film Shootout At Wadala. After all the running around, Gupta heaved a big sigh of relief after he was granted anticipatory bail by the Bombay High Court on Wednesday in the cheating and forgery case that was registered against him by the Versova police. Gupta was released on a bail of Rs 10,000 on the condition that he writes a letter of apology to the Commissioner and that he should immediately withdraw the invite from the website.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag commences shoot today

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag based on the life of world famous athlete Milkha Singh is all set to go on floors today. Announced with much fanfare, Prasoon Joshi and Rakeysh Mehra have been working on the script for almost a year. The film stars Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor in lead roles.

Rakyesh Mehra and his team have been searching for a perfect location to start shooting and after visiting almost all towns of Punjab they have shortlisted Firozpur to commence their first schedule from today.

Robbery at Divya Dutta's house

A robbery took place at actress Divya Dutta's house in Juhu on Saturday night and the actress has lost jewellery worth Rs. 2.5 lakh. Surprisingly, Divya and her mom were at home sleeping but couldn't hear a thing.

When they woke up the next morning they were surprised to find the house in a mess with all gold jewellery missing. Apparently, the building where Divya stays is under repair with bamboo scaffolding around it which could have provided easy access for the robbers.

Yesteryear chocolate hero Joy Mukherjee critically ill

The very moment one hears the evergreen track 'Bade Miyaan Deewane', one is instantly reminded of the impeccable pairing of I.S. Johar and with the yesteryear heartthrob Joy Mukherjee. News is that Joy has now been suffering from respiratory problems of late and has been admitted at the Lilavati Hospital since the last few months.

Talking about his condition, Dr. P Prabhudesai from Lilavati Hospital said that the veteran star is on ventilator and under observation. Reports also have it that the ageing star had a mild septicemia with renal failure and respiratory problems when he was brought to the hospital few months ago. The present day condition is that the 'then slim and trim' Joy now weighs a whopping 115 Kg, as he suffers from obesity, for which the doctors had asked him to lose weight.

Very few people know that Joy, who debuted in films with Love In Simla is Sashadhar Mukherjee's son and also uncle of Kajol and Rani Mukerji.

Salman challenged by three franchise movies?

If all goes as per plan, Bollywood would pretty much be creating a record of maximum number of sequels/franchises/prequels releasing this winter. At last count, as many as four such films are slated for release in the last five weeks of the year. With more films already in production, this number may well go up. The man seeing all such competition building around himself? Salman Khan.

"First sequel to be announced for winter release was of course Salman Khan's Dabangg 2, shooting of which is starting this month. However, slowly but steadily, many other films have stepped in the fray as well. These are Race 2, Aashiqui 2 and the newest entrant Shootout At Wadala. There are going to be a lot of 'familiar' films that audience would be exposed to this winter", says an industry insider.

John Abraham injured

John Abraham has had a rather inauspicious start to the shoot of his upcoming film Shootout At Wadala. The actor got hurt on his nose badly when a junior artiste mistimed a punch leaving the actor in pain.

John started bleeding profusely and a doctor had to be summoned immediately. The shoot was stalled for over an hour.

John is expected to resume shooting from March 9.

Dabangg 2 satellite rights sold for over 40 crores?

There is no denying that Arbaaz Khan's maiden directorial venture Dabangg 2 is among the most awaited films of this year. Even though shooting of the Salman Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer is yet to commence, there is already a lot of talk of how Dabangg 2 is piping hot in the trade circles.

The buzz is that Star TV has already acquired the satellite rights of Dabangg 2 for an astronomical sum in the range of Rs. 40-45 crores.

Kolkata Metro authorities objection to Kahaani

Sujoy Ghosh's film Kahaani starring Vidya Balan has been the talking subject for the past few weeks. Though the film has garnered great publicity over last few days, we have learnt that the film has apparently run into trouble with the Kolkata Metro board recently.

The story so far is that the film has a scene where the main protagonist Vidya Bagchi is pushed in front of a speeding train; the Metro board found this scene objectionable owing to the number of suicide cases already registered and the impact it may cause.

Akshay Kumar to take martial arts to schools

The next time when your kids refrain from going to school, all you need to remember is the keyword 'Akshay Kumar'. No, Akshay has not got into teaching, but he has aggressively started approaching schools in Mumbai and other metros to incorporate martial arts in curriculum. So aggressive is he about this 'mission', that he has even declared that he wants every child to have access to schools and private classes teaching martial arts and until that happens; he won't call it a day.

Readers maybe aware that last year, he was busy with his incessant efforts of talking with many government bodies of various states to include karate, judo, kung fu and other such fighting styles in school and college curriculum. This resulted in Gujarat's Chief Minister Narendra Modi agreeing to make martial arts a mandatory subject in state's schools.

Vikram happy to support Vivek's Hate Story

Vikram Bhatt had given her a break (and a hit film) in the form of Haunted. Still there was no favouritism at play when Tia Bajpai's Lanka released last year. Vikram decided to stay away from it despite it being his own production since it didn't meet his expectations. However, now that his next film Hate Story is igniting some good heat, Vikram is backing the film to the hilt.

"It is clearly that Vikram is letting his head do all the talking instead of heart. Tia is his find and he is obviously protective about her. However, he doesn't intend to support a film just for that reason.

Vidya isn't tempted this Holi

It's final. The Dirty Picture jodi of Vidya Balan and Tusshar Kapoor would be clashing with each other next weekend. With Kahaani and Chaar Din Ki Chandni's arrival on the same day becoming inevitable, the next obvious question was whether both films will aim at arriving a day earlier on Thursday and take advantage of the festive occasion of 'Holi'. As has turned out though, only Chaar Din Ki Chandni is doing that while Kahaani makers are sure that it would be a regular Friday release for them.

"Yes, there were always talks to bring Chaar Din Ki Chandni a day earlier. This way it would be able to benefit from a 'chaar din ka' long weekend since in almost all parts of the country, Thursday is a holiday and people are expected to stay home on Friday as well", comments a source attached to the film.

Essaying the role of a visually challenged person in his Marathi debut, Kashala Udyachi Baat – known as Chhodo Kal Ki Baatein in its Hindi version – wasn’t easy for Anupam Kher, but the veteran actor says he appreciates the real fighters more now. “When you play the role of a physically disabled or differently-abled person, you discover how brilliantly people who are differently-abled live their lives,” the 56-year-old said at the music launch of the film where Anil Kapoor was also present. “We see how people who cannot see, fit themselves so well in the scenario. So, this is a tribute to all the blind. My role is dedicated to all these people,” he added.

This year, the first film to do so is director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar. It tells the real life story of Paan Singh Tomar (Irfan Khan), his meteoric rise as an athlete and his subsequent descent into the ravines of Chambal as just another name in the list of dacoits killed in police encounters.

Mira Nair's official adaptation of the best seller book 'The Reluctant Fundamentalist' has been in news for quite some time. It was over two years back when Irrfan was offered to play an all important part of a progressive Pakistan protagonist in the film. As has turned out, after months of talks, Irrfan and Mira have finally exchanged a goodbye note as far as this film is concerned.

"Mira and Irfan did talk about the film long time back but after that there was no word on the film. While Mira got busy with putting together other cast members for this film boasts of an international ensemble, even Irfan got busy with his other assignments. Meanwhile there was no word from Mira, hence making even Irfan wonder how the project was taking shape. However recently when Mira came back to him with the proposal of doing the film, he had to politely decline", informs a source close to the actor.

Amitabh Bachchan has denied he has begun shooting for Kaun Banega Crorepati? 6 and also a film post his abdominal surgery. But the star had already shot for a Holi number before the operation when he was actually in a lot of pain. The song was Man hoke patang and the film is Gangadevi – a Bhojpuri-Hindi flick produced by Bachchan’s makeup man Deepak Sawant for whom the actor has done quite a few cameos. Big B will be seen with actor wife Jaya in a Holi song after ages – their last one being the famous Rang barse from Silsila. Bachchan was also a part of Holi ke din in Sholay and Holi khele Raghuveera in Baghban with Hema Malini.

Now that could be a result of strenuous  schedule, but Salman continued with the shoot and didn’t show any signs of discomfort while working. Mastermind. That’s what it boiled down to in the case of A Wednesday director Neeraj Pandey. It’s been four long years since A Wednesday and Pandey was about to find the perfect cast for his next directorial venture Special Chabbis. The subject matter is pretty interesting, being based on a jewellery shop robbery that happened in Mumbai in 1987, where a man posing as a CBI officer masterminded a bold, audacious and stunning heist in broad daylight. Initially, Abhishek Bachchan was pencilled in to play the mastermind, but then Pandey must have looked at some of his career choices like Players, Game and Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey and changed his mind. Television’s cutest couple will exchange vows in a traditional ceremony today in Mumbai

For the past six years, Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Sheikh have kept rumour mills abuzz with their love story and wedding plans. Finally the two are ready to tie the knot. Aamir and Sanjeeda will become man and wife after the nikaah at 7pm at Khar Gymkhana in Mumbai today. We hear that while Aamir will stick to the traditional sherwani, Sanjeeda has decided on a bottle green salwar kameez for the big day. The two hosted a pre-wedding bash on February 29 that had the who’s who of the television industry in attendance. It had earlier been rumoured that they will wed that day but the couple chose today (March 2) instead.

Sony to honour true heroes with bravery awards

CID, the longest running TV show in Indian history, has now entered its 15th year. That calls for celebrations, doesn’t it? Sony and the CID team have formulated a year-long campaign to celebrate the show’s successful run with the slogan 15 Saal se… Soch ke aage, jurm ke peeche (For the past 15 years… Ahead of the times, pursuing crime). The campaign will kickstart with the launch of the new CID anthem. Having heard the anthem we must say, it has been superbly composed and gives a good feel of the show and what is being conveyed. From March 16, 2012, Sony will air the Veerta series – episodes dedicated to the common man’s acts of bravery. Then there is the CID Veerta Awards (formerly known as the CID Gallantry Awards) that will award courageous individuals in two categories: Physical bravery (when you save someone’s life) and Social bravery (when you battle social evils).

Tezz shoot April release date set .

The unit of Venus Films' Tezz was in for a shock yesterday when some members from political group Shiv Sena stormed into the sets at Filmistan studios disrupting the shoot for a while. A song sequence featuring Mallika Sherawat was being filmed and Shiv Sainiks were objecting the presence of foreign dancers.

However, the production head explained to them that the foreigners just featured in a couple of shots as the movie is set in London. As promised, the foreigners even left after finishing their bit yesterday afternoon. Post that, the shoot went on smoothly.

Dibakar to take Shanghai to Greece

Now that Dibakar Banerjee's political thriller Shanghai is almost ready, the director has to fulfill a promise that he made to himself. He must show the film to author Vassilis Vassilikos on whose novel Z, Dibakar's Shanghai is based.

True to the original source, Dibakar has kept the Greek author in the loop throughout the making of the film. And now he must keep his final promise, of showing the film to the author, even if it means taking the film to Greece

While Ekta Kapoor is gung ho about the prospects of this gangsters v/s cops film, co-producer and director Sanjay Gupta is also heaving a sigh of relief that he is getting behind the camera more than half a decade after Zinda. No wonder, he can be heard singing praises about his lead protagonist Anil Kapoor and antagonist John Abraham who stayed by him even though others came and went.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag to be filmed in Melbourne

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's biopic on India's greatest athlete Milkha Singh, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag will be filmed in Melbourne. The makers of the film have joined hands with Tourism Victoria in an initiative to promote Melbourne to the Indian audience.

The state of Melbourne plays an important role in Milkha Singh's career as the Flying Sikh launched his international running career at the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games after which he went on to win 77 of 80 international races. Key scenes of the film will be shot over a span of two to three weeks in Melbourne.

Fardeen Khan bereaved

Fardeen Khan, who was once in the news for wrong reasons, suffered yet another setback in his life. His half-sister was one of the two people killed in a car collision in South Delhi early Monday.

Khan's half sister Sonia Sethia, who was the wife of businessman Rajendra Sethia, was returning home in New Friends Colony from dinner at a friend's place in Gulmohar Park, when a car coming at very high speed, rammed into their vehicle on August Kranti Marg.
