No one on Deepika Padukone’s side in the ‘Race 2′ fracas

The Desi Boyz lady seems to be the lone ranger in her legal battle with producer Ramesh Taurani. Isn’t it obvious why no one has come to her aid yet?

The last time an actor got into a big fight with someone for professional reasons was when Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had to opt out of UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar’s ambitious project, Heroine. Apart from her father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan, who even today has strong clout in the industry, many big and small names like Sushmita Sen, Shabana Azmi, Ram Gopal Varma, Vipul Shah and Mahesh Bhatt came out and showed their support to Ash. They all denied the need for a pregnancy clause in film contracts signed between actors and filmmakers. No surprises for guessing why so many people supported the Bachchan bahu! However, there seems to be a deadpan silence in the industry in the recent tussle between Deepika Padukone and her Race 2 producer, Ramesh Taurani. While no one has commented or given their opinion on it, even her co-star of two films Saif Ali Khan chose to side with Taurani. When he was asked what he thought of Dippy’s walking out of the project, Saif preferred minding his own business.

To make it worse, according to gossipmongers, Saif and John Abraham (her Desi Boyz co-star who is also in Race 2) chose to ignore Dippy at Rohit Dhawan’s wedding party. All this happened despite it being clear that Deepika had no choice but to opt out of the film since she didn’t have any more dates to allot for the shoots. In the past she had adjusted her dates twice to accommodate Race 2. Yet, we haven’t heard any of those hyperactive tweeters or always-ready-to-give-a-sound-bite enthusiasts come out in support of Dippy. Is it because the model-turned-actor is an outsider and isn’t part of any camp in B-town? We wonder….
